Audrey Luanne Western, "Luanne" to those who know and loved her, 88, formerly of Ephraim, was called Home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Heritage Court Memory Care in Pewaukee where she resided the last four years.
She was born October 14, 1936 in Madison, the daughter of Emery Theodore Rublee and Goldie Pearline (Skaar) Rublee. Luanne attended Deforest High School, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
On May 18, 1957, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Western. They raised a family in Shorewood and later in Glendale.
Luanne worked as a Elementary School Teacher for the Glendale-River Hills School District for many years.
They retired to Door County and resided in Ephraim, living there for 25 years until Ken's death on June 20, 2021. Luanne then moved into Heritage Court Memory Care in Pewaukee, closer to where her family was living.
Together, she and Ken attended Bay Shore Lutheran Church in Whitefish Bay and then Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay, while living in Ephraim. Luanne enjoyed music, both as a listener and a performer on the flute and piano. She and Ken shared their music at Shepherd of the Bay with solo and duet performances. Luanne was also an avid reader, knitter, and seamstress.
Her love will live on in the hearts of her children, Eric (Bethann) Western of New Berlin, Ellen (Keith) Pallen of Pewaukee, and Andrew Western of Racine; and her grandchildren, Evan, Daniel, and Eric II Western, and Rachael, Natalie, and Nicholas Prom.
Luanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Donald Rublee; and sister-in-law, Arlene (Walter) Ruehmer.
She was laid to rest in Ephraim Moravian Cemetery, beside her husband, Ken, with a private committal.
Memorials may be given in Luanne's honor for the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org); or the Wisconsin Humane Society (www.wihumane.org).
"Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Heritage Court for the wonderful and compassionate care you gave to our mother over the years."
