Barbara Lynn Bock, 79, of Sister Bay, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2025 at her home in Sister Bay, WI.
She was born April 9, 1946 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Robert and Mildred (Boelter) Bock. Barb (as she was affectionately known) attended Kelvyn Park High School and graduated with the class of 1963.
Growing up, Barb and her parents shared a “two flat” with her cousin Sharon’s family. The two girls were inseparable as youngsters and throughout adulthood, where Barb followed Sharon to live in Door County.
In her 20’s Barb moved to San Francisco and worked in banking, she took up running and was a proud member of the Dolphin South End running club and completed several 10k runs. After moving back to the Chicagoland area, Barb worked as a Banker for Harris Bank.
After moving to Door County, Barb was often visiting her mother, Millie, at Scandia Village when staff offered her a job which she took and loved. As the activity coordinator, the residents gathered to play card games and bingo, possibly with some cheating being allowed during bingo. Barb would also take the time to give manicures to the lady residents. Barb would also work at OnDeck in Sister Bay.
Barb loved her deep dish pizza and a cold Stella!!
She was a lover of animals. She had several dogs including Henri and Shadow, both sheep dogs whom she spoiled constantly. She decided to try a mellower animal and moved to cats, after losing her first one, she adopted Squeeks from the local veterinarian clinic. Squeeks was afraid of people and would often hide during her time at the clinic. Once she was in the loving care of Barb, Squeeks would follow her around squeaking which is how her name was changed.
Barb will be missed by the many people she touched over the years, including her brother-in-law, Donald Metter, and only remaining family member, cousin, Pam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill and cousin, Sharon Donegan.
Barbara’s life will be honored with a memorial service held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Casperson Funeral Home in Sister Bay, WI, with Chaplain Joy Zakrzewski officiating.
Memorials may be given in her memory to the Door County Land Trust, P.O. Box 65, Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin, 54235.
