Catherine Mary Johnson

     Catherine "Cathy" Johnson, age 74, passed away on December 23, 2020, in Sturgeon Bay after a battle with dementia. Cathy was born in Flint, MI to Milton and Janet (Scheer) Stratton on August 3, 1946.

     Cathy was a nurse with a gift of caring and advocacy for others, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her husband and was blessed with 47 years of marriage. Cathy became a nurse later in life and was a life-long learner; eventually earning her BSN and Certification in Public Health Nursing, CPH. She would have been thrilled with everyone washing their hands and carrying hand sanitizer!

     When Cathy wasn't working, she loved shopping around the Peninsula and going out to dinner with her husband, Bill. She enjoyed traveling to NY and adventures with Adventure Club friends. Cathy believed strongly that women should have access to education and was a devoted member of P.E.O. International.

     Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Milton; her mother, Janet; and her sister, Joni. She is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Heidi (Chris) Krueger of Wilton, NY; grandchildren, Gretchen and Connor; sister, Becky (Chuck) Metz of Springfield, Il; her brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces and nephews, and friends.

     Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay. Dual-chapel occupancy at the funeral home will be limited to 50 people (25 people per chapel, including family). Those in attendance are to wear facemasks and maintain social distancing.

     A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Huehns Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Foster officiating (via Zoom). The service was livestreamed via the “Casperson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC” Facebook page.

      A service of committal will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Blossomberg Cemetery in Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek.  All are invited to attend.  A reception for family and friends will follow at Alexander's in Fish Creek at 3:00 p.m..  Rooms are being held at Homestead Suites in Fish Creek for those traveling.
