Clark “Clarkster” Robert Zander, 78, of Sister Bay, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 7, 2023.
He was born January 6, 1945 in Milwaukee, son of the late Robert Edward Zander and Bernice Amanda (Hubenthal) Zander Waech. His father passed away during World War II and he was later raised by his “step-”father, Erwin Waech. After graduating high school, Clark attended Wisconsin Lutheran College. On May 25, 1975, he and Sylvia Anne Pischinger were united in marriage at Atonement Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. They shared 36 years of marriage together before she preceded Clark in death on June 6, 2011. After his late father’s passing, Clark became increasingly interested in the history of WWII. He loved aviation, collecting random items, shooting, and a good political debate. Clarkster was a jokester and had a story about everything, whether you cared to listen or not.
He will be missed by his children, Sara Zander of Ellison Bay and Katie Zander of Sister Bay; cousin, Gail Katutis; and dear friends, Bill and Julie Erbach and their family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Zander; parents, Bernice and Erwin Waech; wife, Sylvia Zander; cousin, George “Buzzy” Schroeder; and faithful dog, Bruno.
A visitation to honor Clark will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Casperson Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The evening will conclude with a bagpipe tribute at 7:00 p.m.
A visitation to honor Clark will also be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Clark and Sylvia will be laid to rest together during a committal service following the visitation at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his name to the Young Eagles Program through Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) in Oshkosh.
