David Frederick Boock, 83, of Sister Bay, WI, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026.
He was born on July 22, 1942, to parents Marian Louse Amelia (Oelrich) and Norbert Frederick Boock in Minneapolis, MN. David graduated from high school in Spencer, WI in 1960 and from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1965 with a degree in Secondary Education with a Major in History. He earned a Graduate School Banking degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1984) and earned his administrative license for nursing home administration (1989).
David taught junior high and high school Civics and Social Studies in Black River Falls, WI. He worked as a Vice President in the Loans Department at the Spencer State Bank in Spencer, WI and at Associated Bank in Ephraim, WI. He also served as Administrator at Capeside Cove Nursing Home in Siren, WI. David was initially on the Advisory Board of Scandia Village in 1988 and became the Administrator of Good Samaritan Society Scandia Village in Sister Bay, WI in 1992. He also served as Interim Administrator in several states. He served on the Good Samaritan Society National Board for six years and retired in 2011 to spend many good years traveling with his wife and family.
In 1967, he married Cherylynne (Cheri) Zajac and has two daughters and a son: Christianna (Pat) Shortridge of Trophy Club, TX, Linda (Jeffrey) Walker of Boise, ID, and Timothy (Heather) Boock on Victoria, MN.
In addition to his wife and children, David is survived by his brother, Gerald Boock of River Falls, WI; and his seven grandchildren, Gage Boock, Paris Boock, Anna Shortridge, Patrick Shortridge, Jack Shortridge, Sam Walker, and Sabrina Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marilyn Boock Schmidt.
David was a member of the Spencer Lions Club, Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield, WI, the Ephraim Men's Club, Bethany Lutheran Church in Ephraim, WI, and Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay, WI. He loved hiking trails in Door County and across the country, riding his bike on the back roads, cross-country skiing in Peninsula State Park, traveling, and following all kinds of sports. He was a forever Packer backer and a fan of the Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers, and UW-Eau Claire Blugolds. Most of all he loved his wife and family. He adored his grandchildren.
David’s life will be honored with a memorial service held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church, 11836 State Highway 42, Ellison Bay, WI 54210 with Pastor James Honig officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.
