David George Niedzwiecki, 91 years, of Baileys Harbor, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay with his wife and family by his side.
He was born September 9, 1934 in West Allis, the son of the late Roman and Eleanora (Bierbaum) Niedzwiecki. David attended Boy's Tech School in 1951. He then moved to Rhinelander and attended Rhinelander High School. David asked his father for permission to enter the military, and at 17, and he joined the United States Navy. He was stationed with the USS Hornet (CV-12) for 4 years, and traveled around the world. After his service, David worked as a brick layers apprentice before his employment with Voss/Herlicka construction, and on weekends, he and his neighbor worked for "Wheelbarrow Construction Co", then for Zettel Construction and Ken Zak. For a number of years, David was self-employed as a stone mason and dairy farmer. His career spanned other ventures with Harbor Construction, Ephraim Wastewater treatment plant, also served as Baileys Harbor Assessor, Baileys Harbor Town chairman,and Door County - County supervisor.
On October 4, 1958, he married Geraldine "Geri" Ann (Gray) at St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church in Baileys Harbor.
David was a member of the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Bay Council 4896 in Baileys Harbor, the Peninsula Gun Club, V.F.W. Post #8337 out of the Town of Liberty Grove, and AMVETS Post 51 in Sturgeon Bay. He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, was an avid sports fan who loved watching the Bucks and Packers, and telling Navy stories to friends and family. He liked showing off his antique John Deere tractor. Dancing at Fernwood Gardens and Maplewood was something he enjoyed with his wife, Geri.
David will be missed by his, Geri; three children, Michael (Stacey) Niedzwiecki of Sister Bay, Mary Niedzwiecki of Baileys Harbor, and Robert (Rhonda) Niedzwiecki of Maplewood; grandchildren, twins, Sara (Aaron) Stachowski, Jessica (Louis) Ayensu-Mensah, Derek (Jess) Niedzwiecki, Alexis (fiance', Brett Kinnard) Niedzwiecki, Daniel (Jill) Bosman, and Jamie (Danny) Allen; great-grandchildren, Lydia and Caleb Stachowski, Naomi Ayensu-Mensah, Noah Niedzwiecki, Mason Bosman, Hailey Bosman, Noelle Patza, Owen and Delaney Allen.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Ed) Gray; in-laws, John and Lucieo Gray, Irene Elkin, Harold (Ruth) Gray, Delores (Urban) Flok, and Evelyn (Frances)Ehlers; and great-granddaughter, Regan Allen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Stella Maris Parish-Baileys Harbor site with Fr. Thomas Farrell as celebrant. David will be laid to rest in St. Mary's of the Lake Cemetery in the Town of Baileys Harbor with Military Honors by the United States Navy, Weber-Tess AMVETS Post 51, and the V.F.W. Post #8337.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
