David Seaquist Obituary

David Reuben Seaquist, 93, of Sister Bay, WI, was called Home to be with the Lord, early Saturday morning, May 4, 2024 at Serenity Spring Senior Living at Scandia Village in Sister Bay. He was a lifelong resident of Sister Bay.

David was born at home on August 19, 1930, the son of Reuben Clifford Seaquist and Leona Emmaline (Smith) Seaquist. He grew up attending Wildwood Grade School in the Town of Liberty Grove and he graduated from Gibraltar High School in Fish Creek with the class of 1948. David enrolled in welding and electrical courses at Northeastern Wisconsin Technical College in Sturgeon Bay.

He enlisted to serve his country with the United States Army, entering into active duty on March 10, 1953. David was stationed in Austria. He was honorably discharged from the Army on February 28, 1955 with the rank of Artillery Sergeant.

David met Lois Virginia Springer at First Baptist Church in Sister Bay during the summer of 1956. They were united in marriage on October 24, 1959 at River Forest Bible Chapel in River Forest, IL. David and Lois resided in Sister Bay, WI and lived for most of their married life, in the home in which he was born.

David co-owned and operated Action Electric in Sister Bay. He and friends Glen Fagerstrom and Dave Maltby started the company together in 1975. David eventually retired but continued to work part time until 2009. Between Action Electric and other companies, he had been an electrician for 47 years.  David also was a fruit grower and worked the family farm and orchards as well as a commercial fisherman with his father in his youth. The name of the family farm was Bayshore Orchards.

David's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior in early 1944. David was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Sister Bay. Over the years, he served as a Trustee, Deacon, Treasurer, and sang in the Choir, Male Chorus, small groups, and quartets.  David sang 2nd bass. As a veteran, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8337 in Liberty Grove, WI. He enjoyed traveling, music, concerts, plays, and puzzles. David volunteered his electrician skills at Lake Ellen Camp in Upper Michigan as well as First Baptist Church.

He was a quiet, humble, gentle man with an easy smile and he treasured the times spent with family and friends. David especially enjoyed seeing his legacy continue in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He and Lois added another member to their family when they hosted a foreign exchange high school student, Musfik, in the 1980's.

David will be missed by his beloved wife, Lois, with whom he was blessed with 64 years of marriage; children, Cynthia (Timothy) Linton of Sister Bay, and Stephen (Erica) Seaquist of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Anna Cheshire, Erik (Brooke) Linton, Sarah (Daniel) Phelps, and Joshua Seaquist; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Liam, Deacon, Calum, Clara, and Shepherd; sister, Marjorie Goulet of Foxboro, MA; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives, Musfik Cantekinler of Istanbul, Turkey; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Ruth Seaquist; sister, Faye (Charles) Erickson; brother-in-law, Roger Goulet; and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Sister Bay, 2622 S. Bay Shore Drive, with Pastor Dr. Mark Billington officiating. Military Honors by the United States Army, V.F.W. Post #8337, and the Billy Weiss American Legion Post 527 will follow at the church. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

David will be laid to rest in Little Sister Cemetery in the Town of Liberty Grove.
