Donald Badtke Obituary

Donald Louis Badtke, 86, of Sister Bay, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Bellin Health in Green Bay.

He was born July 2, 1935, the only child of the late Henry and Minnie (Schmidt) Badtke. Don graduated from Gibraltar High School with the Class of 1954. On November 28, 1959, he married Janet Marie Amanda Lundquist at the Sister Bay Moravian Church and the two were blessed with four children. Don worked as a skilled tradesman and businessman his entire career. He worked at several auto garages and as a carpet layer. In 1970, he opened his own automobile repair business and worked on his own until retirement. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, visiting with family and friends, and attending church services at the First Baptist Church in Sister Bay. He also took great pride in restoring vintage tractors and performing small engine repairs.

Don will be dearly missed by his children, Debra (Mark) Blaha, Sherry (Greg) Fruhauff, Scott Badtke, and Mark (Julie) Badtke; grandchildren, Efrem (Kelly) Blaha, Amanda (Jason) Manders, Emily (Luke) Hoppe, Nicholas Badtke, Shaina (Eric) Fiala, Chelsea (Jake) Lauer, Kaella (Charlie Radtke) Badtke, and Jessica (fiancée, Brandon Hessel) Badtke; step-granddaughter, Laura Fruhauff; and great-grandchildren, Jameson Manders, Ella and Elliot Blaha, and Elijah, Noah, and Savannah Fiala.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Minnie Badtke.

A funeral service to celebrate Don’s life will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. He will be laid to rest in the Little Sister Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Don’s name to the First Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Bellin Health nurses and doctors in the Emergency and Cardiology Departments, as well the ICU, for their compassionate care.
