Dr. Robert Alva Maves

     Dr. Robert Alva Maves of Ellison Bay, WI and Beach Park, IL left his earthly home on March 20, 2022.

     He was born March 18, 1927 in DeKalb, Illinois. He will be missed by his wife, Emma Jane Maves and three children, Jennifer Maves Wolfe Fox of Cape Coral, FL, Robert Alva Maves Jr. of North Ft Myers, FL, and Julie Maves Kaufman of Vernon Hills, IL. Robert is also survived by four grandchildren, Charles Wolfe, Suzanne Wolfe Sopczak, Benjamin Kaufman, and Hayley Kaufman. Great-grandchildren include Lily Sopczak, Lukas Sopczak, and Erik Wolfe.

     He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Ann (1930) and his parents, Alva Roy Maves (1975) and Marion Arlene Maves (1989).

     Robert moved to Waukegan, Illinois in his early school years. He served in the US Navy during WWII on the Underwater Demolition Team. He met the love of his life, Jane Albrecht Maves of Zion, IL upon his return from the war. They were married August 15, 1948.

     Robert graduated from National College of Chiropractic in 1953 and began his practice in Waukegan, IL. He was a gifted Doctor of Chiropractic and was able to help many, many patients over the years. He inspired and mentored several young Chiropractors as they entered the profession.

     Robert had a zest for life that he shared with his family and many friends. His hobbies included boating, scuba diving, water skiing, hunting, fishing, snow skiing, travel, and flying his own small plane. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.

     Robert professed a strong faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The family attended Christ Community Church in Zion, IL and later Bethel Baptist Church in Ellison Bay, WI.

     Robert was laid to rest during a private Masonic graveside service in the Ellison Bay Cemetery in Ellison Bay, WI. A Celebration of Life is being planned for July.
