Edward Regnier, Sr. Obituary

Edward James Regnier, Sr., age 88, of Washington Island, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Ed was born on November 18, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Elmer and Eileen Regnier. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Ed was united in marriage to Geraldine Wenzel, and together they shared many years of love and devotion. They were blessed with two sons, Edward Jr. and Ken.

A fourth-generation stagehand, Ed spent much of his career in television production. He worked for WGN, where he had the opportunity to work alongside beloved television personalities such as Bozo the Clown and Frazier Thomas, and on classic programs including Family Classics and Garfield Goose and Friends. After leaving WGN, Ed continued his career at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, where he worked until his retirement in 1999. Following retirement, Ed and Geraldine fulfilled their dream of moving to Washington Island.

Ed found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved golfing, fishing for salmon on the lake, tending to his flower garden, and enjoying a well-made martini. Above all else, Ed cherished time spent with his family.

Ed is survived by his sons, Edward (Sandra) Regnier, Jr., and Ken Regnier; his grandchildren, Brennen (Kristin) Regnier and Kailey Regnier; his sister, Sue Hayes; and his sister-in-law, Judy Schulte.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine.

A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2026.
Casperson Funeral Home of Sister Bay is assisting the family. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Ed may be shared with his family through his tribute page at www.CaspersonFuneralHome.com.
