Eunice Grace Heal

Eunice Grace Heal, 107, of Sister Bay, passed away Saturday morning, January 4, 2025, at Hearthside Assisted Living in Sister Bay.

Born August 25, 1917 in Little Falls, MN, the third child of Elbert and Carrie (Klaiss) Elvin. Eunice grew up on a dairy farm a few miles west of Little Falls, MN. Graduated from Little Falls high school at age 16.

After graduation, Eunice went to live with her sister, Edna, and worked in Minneapolis. In November of 1940 she married Millard Filmore Heal. They moved to Boston, while living there Eunice had her first son, Jeffrey. In 1946 they moved to Chicago, where their second son, Hayden was born. Eunice was a devoted mother and homemaker.  

In 1958 the family moved to St Charles and Eunice and her family became members of St Mark's Lutheran Church. She worked as a clerk/bookkeeper for several businesses, one being Colson's Department Store on Main St in St Charles. When the department store closed, Eunice obtained a position at the First National Bank of St Charles.

Eunice enjoyed traveling, participating in church activities, attending concerts, and watching NASCAR racing. She joined the park district and traveled with many groups. Eunice traveled to many places in the US and places outside the US. Jamaica was one of her favorite places to visit.

In 2008, Eunice moved to Scandia Village in Sister Bay. Eunice mentioned many times that the first person to visit her in Scandia was Clyde Casperson. She was still active after her move into Scandia Village. She went anywhere the bus would take her. After an injury in November 2019, she moved into Hearthside and remained there until her passing.

She will be missed by her son, Jeffrey and his wife, Tiana, of Washington Island; grandchildren, Jackie (Joseph) Spegele and Todd (Jan) Heal; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Millard; her son, Hayden Heal; her siblings, Edna (Mitchell) Silbert, Raymond (Margaret) Elvin, and Kenneth (Lois) Elvin; and other relatives.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join Eunice's family at Casperson Funeral Home, 2594 S. Bay Shore Drive, Sister Bay, WI 54234 for a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 with Rev. Mark Richards officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, just prior to the service.
