Faye Erickson Obituary

Faye Jeanette Erickson, 93, of Sister Bay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society – Scandia Village, with family at her side.

She was born April 27, 1928 in Sister Bay, the eldest of three children born to the late Reuben Clifford and Leona Emmaline (Smith) Seaquist. Faye graduated from Gibraltar High School as valedictorian for the Class of 1946. She attended Bethel Junior College in St. Paul, Minnesota before transferring to the University of Minnesota, where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Faye taught school in St. Paul, Sister Bay, and Lee County Schools (Ft. Myers, Florida) until her retirement in 1989. On June 7, 1951, she married Paul Thompson and they were blessed with one son, Douglas. In 1957, Paul, Douglas, and Leona passed away unexpectedly. On December 26, 1961, Faye married Charles Erickson and they moved to Ft. Myers, Florida for 44 years. After retiring from school teaching, she worked in an after-school program for McGregor Baptist Church in Florida for several years and participated in the Bible Study Group and music programs. In 2007, Faye moved back to Sister Bay to be closer to her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sister Bay, where she was also involved in the Bible Study Group and the music program. While living in Door County, she taught English for the Door County BRIDGES Program. Faye’s passion was music and children. She loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and accepted Him as her personal Savior at a young age. Faye lived her faith daily and it was evident to all who knew her and were blessed by her. She impacted the lives of many and will be missed dearly.

Faye is survived by her brother, David (Lois) Seaquist; sister, Marjorie Goulet; nieces and nephews, Cindy (Tim) Linton, Steve (Erica) Seaquist, Terry Schnorbus, Dan Anderson, and Gary (Diane) Anderson; great nieces and nephews [and their children], Anna (Brandon) Cheshire [Liam], Erik (Brooke) Linton [Cooper and Deacon], Sarah (Daniel) Phelps, Joshua Seaquist, Jamie (CJ) Egbujo [Josiah, Toby, Eden, and Amara], Jackie (Keith) Plunske [Izaac and Iylah], Dylan Brodeur, and Hannah Anderson; brother-in-law, Cliff Anderson; and many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Leona Seaquist; first husband, Paul Thompson; son, Douglas Thompson; second husband, Charles Erickson; and brother-in-law, Roger Goulet.

Faye’s life will be honored with a memorial service held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Sister Bay with Pastor Dr. Mark Billington officiating. She was laid to rest in Little Sister Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
