Faye Sitte Obituary

Faye Hypatia Sitte, 95, of Sister Bay, was called Home to be with the Lord and was reunited with her husband, Howard, early Friday morning, September 26, 2025 while at Serenity Spring Senior Living at Scandia Village in Sister Bay.

She was born July 20, 1930 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Edwin Carl Jacobson and Adella Marion Jacobson. Faye grew up attending Liberty Grove School and First Baptist Church of Sister Bay. She graduated from Gibraltar High School with the class of 1948. Faye went on to study at Milwaukee Business Institute before returning home to Door County.

She first met Howard James Sitte at Pfeil's Hall (now Mink River Basin), and she knew he was the one. They were united in marriage on September 30, 1950 at Faye's home church, First Baptist Church of Sister Bay where they remained members.

She started working for Bunda's in Sister Bay (now On Deck Clothing) before going to work as a bookkeeper for Sam Erickson and eventually, his son, Willard. Faye worked for the Hotel du Nord and Pishas Restaurant (now Boathouse on the Bay). In 1980, she was asked to be the secretary for (the First Baptist) Church. After three requests, Faye agreed, and remained the church secretary for 15 years.

She was an active member at church, outside of her role as secretary, helping with various serving groups and other committees. Faye volunteered at Bargains Unlimited in Sister Bay and also belonged to the local Homemakers Club. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and was also an avid knitter - usually, socks, hats, and mittens, just to name a few of her common creations and gifts.

Faye and Howard were blessed with nearly 58 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2008.

Faye's love will live on in the hearts of her children, Linda (Conrad) Johnson of the Town of Liberty, Larry (Jean) Sitte of Waukesha, Kent (Heidi) Sitte of the Town of Liberty Grove, Mark (Jennifer) Sitte of the Town of Liberty Grove; grandchildren, Matthew (Melanie) Johnson and Nicholas Johnson, Adam (Anna) Sitte, Jenna (AJ Weiers) Weiers-Sitte, and Jared (Kayli) Sitte, Abbigael and Braden Sitte, and Audrey and Nina Sitte; great-grandchildren, Avery, Baker, and Emmy and Willa and Gemma, Nora, Zara, and Yusuf, Violet and Oliver, and Madison; sister-in-law, Eileen Jacobson of the Town of Liberty Grove; and her cousin, Catherine Peot of Sister Bay; special friend and niece, Jacqueline Rooney and other nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Darrell Jacobson; siblings-in-law, Chester (Mildred) Sitte, Everett (Myrtle) Sitte, Wallace "Wally" (Ruth) Sitte, Floy (Frank) Fandrei, Margaret (Joe) Klug, and Harriet (Gordon) Seaquist; and other relatives.

Faye's life will be honored with a funeral service held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Sister Bay with Pastor Dr. Mark Billington officiating. She will be laid to rest in Little Sister Cemetery in the Town of Liberty Grove, beside her husband, Howard.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.
