On April 29, 2023, Gayle Marie George, 75, hard-working, strong, friend to all, died after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Gayle was born August 14, 1947 to Gilbert and Gloria (Latchin) George in Chicago, IL, and at an early age, moved with her family to Highland Park, IL. She traveled the world before settling in her career at Illinois Bell. Upon her retirement, Gayle started a tea and coffee shop in Long Grove, IL where she met her long-time partner and outstanding chef, Klaudia Crawford. They opened several restaurants together before moving to Sister Bay, WI where their culinary expertise continued.
Gayle cared deeply for the people in her life. Making many friends in Door County, her generous and giving personality was noted by all.
Gayle was preceded in death by her partner, Klaudia Crawford; and parents Gilbert and Gloria George. She is survived by her sister, Gwynne (Scott) Chovanec; nephews, Chad Chovanec, Kyle (Kristina) Chovanec, Peter (Laura) Pietrini, and Christopher (Cambria) Bogojevich; great nephews, Calvin Chovanec, Declan Chovanec, Donald Pietrini, and David Pietrini; Godson, Eric (Nikki) Anderson; and dear friend, Wendy (Stefano) Chiarello.
The family would like to thank the many friends who have provided support during this time as well as Door County Medical Center and Unity Hospice for giving her peace and comfort during her final days.
