Helen Ann Darlene (Prust) Mueller, 87, of Baileys Harbor, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.
She was born June 5, 1936 in Fish Creek, daughter of the late Herbert Charles and Hildagard Gertrude (Reinhard) Prust. Helen was a graduate of Gibraltar High School. She was United in marriage on June 4, 1955, to Robert Albert Mueller at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Baileys Harbor. They started their family and lived in Evanston and Palatine, Illinois. While living in Illinois, Helen worked as a school bus driver for Palatine School District 15 for 14 years and then as a secretary for Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine for two years before moving to Fish Creek in 1976. She drove school bus for Gibraltar Area Schools for seven years. Helen and Bob also owned and operated The Fish Creek Motel and Cottages, along with The Dor-Way Motel in Ephraim. In 1979, Helen and Bob purchased The Eagle Inn Motel in Ephraim and placed it on a barge and transported it to Fish Creek by water to become an addition to The Fish Creek Motel and Cottages. In 1995, they officially retired from the motel business.
Helen was a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine, where she was a member of the J-O-Y Club, and a past member of Faith Lutheran Church and church choir in Green Bay. She was a current member of the Rotary Club of Door County North and an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor, where she served two church council terms and sang in the choir.
She was active with an outgoing personality, and she will be missed by so many who loved her.
Helen will live on in the hearts of her four children, Debra (Glen) Caves, Keith (Mary) Mueller, Kevin Mueller, and Dionne (Jerry) Paschke; grandchildren, Melissa (Mike) Ploor, Jeremy (Jennifer) Ebner, Robert (Kelly) Ebner, Kendra (Andrew) Joseph, Ryan (Mandy) Caves, Brady (Sara) Paschke, and Austin Paschke; great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Ethan, Connor, Sara, Avan, Emma, Eva, and Bentley; sister, Delores (Robert) Spittlemeister; twin brother, Herbert Prust; sisters-in-law, Corrine Mueller and Carole Mueller; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert Mueller; sister-in-law, Loretta Prust; and brothers-in-law, Goldie, Orville, Wilbert (Lorraine), Orlan (Betty), Marvin, Lee, Lloyd and an infant Mueller.
Helen’s life will be honored with a funeral service at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 12:00 noon. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Blossomberg Cemetery in Fish Creek.
Visitation for friends and family will be held at the church on Friday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m.
