Helen Marion (Burress) Saur

Helen Marion Saur beloved wife and mother passed away in Brookfield, WI March 15, 2026 after a courageously fought battle with Parkinson’s. She was 79 years old.

Born December 18, 1946, she was raised in Sister Bay, WI. Marion was proceeded in death by her parents, Helen and Gentry Burress, and sister, Betty.

In 1965, Marion graduated from Gibraltar High School and moved to Milwaukee, WI to attend St Mary’s School of Nursing. At the beginning of her first year, while attending a dental fraternity party, she met Robert Saur who would become her loving husband for 57 years.

In 1968, she graduated from St Mary’s school of Nursing. In 1974 Marion earned the degree of Bachelor in Science of Nursing and in1984 the degree of Master of Science in Nursing. Marion was a nursing instructor at Alverno College and a member of many professional societies. Marion started her career as an RN at St Mary’s Hospital children’s burn unit and then at the Visiting Nurse Association for a long career of giving professional and loving care of her patients.

Marion’s compassion and caring that made her an exceptionally wonderful nurse carried over to her personal life by always helping those in need. From an early age Marion was an avid reader and enjoyed being a member of a book club and bible study. Marion cherished the times she could spend reading a good book while relaxing among the whistling pine trees that surrounded the family cabin near Crivitz WI. She also enjoyed many sun-filled days and beautiful sunsets while on vacation at their condo on Sanibel Island. Marion and Robert were able to buy one of her childhood homes in Sister Bay, WI which gave her the ability to spend time with her aging mother and beloved siblings.

Marion is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 57 years, Robert Sr; daughter, Elizabeth-granddaughters, Zoe, and Victoria; son, Robert Jr (Anna)- granddaughters, Isabella and Rose. Siblings, Sue (Owen), Jeanne (Doug), Joe (Michelle), Dick (Jane), Cory, Katie (Randy), Marsha (Steve).

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at the Becker Ritter Funeral Home from 11AM until the time of Helen’s Funeral Service at 12PM.
