Hildegarde Elizabeth Wagner, "Hildy" to those who knew and loved her, was born October 2, 1922 in Germany. She immigrated to America with her parents at the age of 2. Hildy shared over 50 years of marriage with her husband Jack Wagner who passed away in 2007. Hildy was raised in the city of Milwaukee and continued to live there independently until the age of 95 when her family convinced her to move to Door County.
From December 2018 through her final days, Hildy was well cared for by the staff at Good Samaritan Society-Scandia Village in Sister Bay. She was always the spunky one with an infectious laugh and determined personality.
Hildy's life was well lived. She enjoyed playing bingo, taking cruises, dancing, gardening, and walking. Preferring outdoor activities and leaving her husband Jack in the kitchen to do the cooking. Hildy loved animals, especially dogs. She once told her family that she'd prefer to meet a new puppy over a new baby. However, her love for her family was strong and she adored her nieces and nephews.
Hildy passed away at Scandia Village on August 28, 2023, just five weeks shy of her 101st birthday.
She will be fondly remembered by her niece, Sharon Demarinis of Lake Havasu, AZ; great-niece and great-nephew, Susie Demarinis of Boise, ID, and Chris (Kristen) Demarinis of Sister Bay (and their daughters, Vanessa and Gabriella).
Hildy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and other relatives.
At Hildy's request, there will be no formal services. She will be laid to rest beside Jack in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield Wisconsin.
Memorials may be given in her honor for the Wisconsin Humane Society-Door County Campus (3475 County Road PD, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235; 920-746-1111).
Arrangements have been entrusted with Casperson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Sister Bay. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Hildy may be shared with her family through her tribute page at www.caspersonfuneralhome.com.
