James Jordan Obituary

James P. Jordan passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 24, 2022 at the age of 64. He was a giant, not only in physical stature, but in spirit too. He cast his net wide in life, and he lived.

The eldest son of James and Karen Jordan, Jimmer hailed from Ishpeming, Michigan.

He spent his formative years growing up in Wisconsin and married, Nanc, the love of his life shortly after college. The 43 years they spent together were the best years of his life.

Jimmer had a lifelong passion for learning, earning his BA at UW – Eau Claire, a master’s degree at UW – Oshkosh, and his doctorate at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.

Jimmer enjoyed a long career in the insurance industry primarily at two major companies – Jewelers Mutual and Church Mutual - but he found his real calling after retiring in 2016. He and Nanc moved to Door County full-time, and he began pursuing his dream of writing, ultimately publishing three Wisconsin-based mystery novels.

Jimmer enjoyed many other pursuits in life. He was an extremely involved parent with his children, Jamie (Chris), Leah (John), and Christer, and served over the years as an ambassador for Junior Achievement, DECA, and coaching softball and basketball. He loved traveling the world with Nanc by his side and attending Packer games and other sporting events with his son.

One of his most cherished roles in life was that of grandfather to Mila, Ivy Kate, Marian, Faye, and Arie Elliott. Pop loved exploring Door County with them, “golf-coursing,” having picnics at the beach, and taking trips to the park. “Nini + Papa Camp” was a highly anticipated biannual event.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 10th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Juddville, Wisconsin, officiated by Pastor Frank Kauzlarich. Visitation will begin at noon, and a reception will follow the service at Write On, Door County.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to the James P. Jordan Memorial Fund at the Door County Library, Sister Bay-Liberty Grove branch at P.O. Box 347, Sister Bay, WI 54234.
