James Anthony "Tony" Hummel Obituary

James Anthony "Tony" Hummel 46 of Sister Bay passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

He was born on October 30, 1975 to John "Jack" R. Hummel and Norma S. Johnson in Missouri. He spent the early years of childhood in Missouri. Around the age of 12, he moved to Elk Grove, Illinois. There is where he found the love for sports especially football. He played until an injury happened that prevented him from continuing. However, that did not stop him from loving the game. He was also a very talented artist and an animal lover.

In 2004, Tony moved to Sister Bay to help his aunt at her hotel. That summer he met Jessica Charney. He got a second job as a linecook, something he knew nothing about. But his creativity got him hooked. He fell in love with the endless possibilities that food had to offer. It was a new form of art for him. One could always find him in the kitchen cooking or baking up something. It was his happy place.

Most of all, Tony's favorite thing in this world was being a father. He loved to do anything with his children, especially sharing the art of cooking and the love of sports. He was a very proud father.

Tony will be deeply missed by his children, Mia, Kaleb and Liam; their mother, Jessica Charney; father, Jack Hummel; brothers, Erik (Krystal) Hummel, John (Ailinn) Sasfai; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents; and beloved stepmother, Kathryn (D'Amico) Hummel.

A celebration of life will be at a later time.

Family would like to thank the staff of Froedtert and St Luke's hospitals for the amazing care and comfort they gave.

Memorial donations be given in Tony’s name to any animal shelter.
