James "Jim" Schaffer Obituary

James Randle Schaffer, 88, of Sister Bay, passed away in the comfort of his home, Saturday morning, May 17, 2025 with his family at his side.

Jim was known for his big heart, laughter and love for life. He was the kind of person who lit up every room he walked into—the life of the party, always ready with a joke, a story, and a smile.

Jim shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife, Cathy, whose love and partnership were the center of his world. He was a loving dad to Pam (Kevin), Carrie, and Dana; proud grandpa to JP (Kristina), Erin and Genevieve (Kurtis); and blessed great-grandpa to Eddie, treasuring every moment spent with his family!

A regular at his favorite watering hole, The Boathouse, Jim was well known for his signature sunset tradition—blowing the conch shell to mark the day’s end and celebrate the good times. His joy for life was contagious, and his memory will live on in every laugh, every gathering, and every sunset toast.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
