James "Slick" R. Peterson

     James “Slick” Peterson, 80, of Ellison Bay, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, at home surrounded by his close friends and family.

     Jim was born August 8, 1943, in Sturgeon Bay, WI, the son of the late Percy and Dorothy (Anderson) Peterson. After high school he served in the United States Navy, stationed in Portsmouth, VA. He then found his niche in auto body repair, working for Olson Auto Body in Sister Bay for many years. When he had time on his hands, he loved working on friends’ old vintage cars and trucks, bringing them back to their original luster. Jim loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and owned several different bikes throughout his life.

     Slick was his nickname, and he was known by that name near and far. He had many “buddies” who loved him, respected him, and had a lot of good times together. Slick’s wishes were to die at home and his close friends helped him achieve that by taking turns stopping by, morning, noon, and night, in the last month of his life. Without their dedication in helping with his care, it would not have been possible. The family is eternally grateful for the love and compassion from his devoted friends and cousin, Chris.

     Jim is survived by his two sisters, Kathy and Cindy: several nieces; nephews; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles; and nephew, Kelly James.

     At Jim’s request, there will be no services.
