Janet Elaine Pohl, 85, of Sister Bay, WI, passed away early Friday morning, July 21, 2023, at the Unity Hospice Jack and Engrid Meng Residence in the Town of Ledgeview, WI.

She was born June 26, 1938 in O’Neil, NE, the daughter of Joseph Edward Hamilton and Marjory Lorene (Brittell) Hamilton. In 1946, Janet's family moved to Monmouth, IL where she attended grade school and Monmouth High School. While in high school she served as a class officer, was a cheerleader all four years, and participated in choir and plays/musicals. Janet went on to study at Monmouth College for two years and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. In the Fall of 1957, she was named Miss Warren County.

In December of 1957, Janet married Lowell Zea, and they had three children who survive Janet: Marjory (Robert) Champion of Argenta IL, Michelle (Richard) Brown of McKinney, TX and Michael (Elizabeth) Zea of New Canaan, CT - who will all miss her profoundly.

She worked for Metaalwerken in Hinsdale, IL for years.

On May 30, 1976, Janet was united in marriage to Robert Steven Pohl, and gained three wonderful stepchildren who will also miss Janet greatly: Robert Pohl Jr., Brian (Carrie) Pohl, and John (Suzanne) Pohl. She and Bob retired to Door County, WI and enjoyed 36 years of marriage until his death on March 18, 2012.

Janet was a very compassionate mother and very supportive of all the children's activities. She loved all animals, especially with fondness for her pets. Janet loved her flower gardens, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and making many crocheted blankets for family members. She really enjoyed bridge and was an avid player.
