Jeanette Marie Tveten, 98, of Sister Bay, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday, February 5, 2026 with family at her side.
She was born April 14, 1927 in Bloomer, the only child of Lee Carvel Anderson and Hilda Caroline (Hass) Anderson. Jeanette grew up living at the Hotel Anderson that was built and run by her grandparents, Albert and Marie Anderson.
Graduating from Bloomer High School, she went on to study physical therapy at Ripon College from 1946-1947. Jeanette enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1949, where she met her future husband, Charles Owen Tveten. They were united in marriage at the Wedding Chapel in Chippewa Falls on June 18, 1949.
This union would eventually be blessed with a family of five girls and a son. Jeanette and Charles initially lived in River Falls before moving to the Village of Bellevue in Brown County. After a short time there, they moved to Door County and settled in Sister Bay where they remained lifelong residents. Charles taught Social Studies, Science, and Drivers Education and also coached basketball and baseball at Gibraltar High School.
Jeanette was first and foremost, a mom and homemaker, with her life centered around family and days filled with dining, conversation, games, puzzles, among other activities. Days outside were spent at beaches getting ice cream, cross-country skiing at Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek and Newport State Park in Ellison Bay. Jeanette was an avid reader of Door County history as well as mysteries. She liked tending to her flowers in the garden, and bowling in league in her early years in Sister Bay. Jeanette was a creative person who had a good eye for fashion and design and was a talented seamstress. Jeanette's sewing skills were even put to use for emergency use before games and through the sports season when jerseys needed something stitched up.
Over the years, Jeanette worked at Cabin Craft in Ephraim, The Hutch in Fish Creek, as a docent for the Ephraim Historical Foundation, at the former On Deck clothing store (located where Bhirdo's Second Hand Sue's now is), and also as a clerk at the pharmacy in Sister Bay.
She and Charles were blessed with over 32 years of marriage at the time of Charles' passing on October 31, 1981.
Jeanette's love will live on in the hearts of her children, Renee (Steve) Johnson of Pine City, MN, Karen (William) Peters of Hudson, Charles (Jeni) Tveten of the Town of Liberty Grove, Michele (Tom Schroeder) Novak, Sonja Tveten, both of Sister Bay, and Kirsten Horn of Jersey Village, TX; grandchildren, Patrick (LiAndra) Johnson and Branden (Jessica) Johnson, Taryn (Jacob) Score, Britt (William IV) Hoff, and Trina (Paul) Nelson, and Maryn Horn; great-grandchildren, Maya and Bjorn Johnson, Bryce, Paige, Tristian, Roman, and Faith Johnson, Clayton, Clyde, David, Dorothy, and Sadie Score, William "Billy" V, Peter, and Ann Hoff, and Kat, Lucy, and Orie Nelson; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Rodd Novak; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruth (Stanley) Mikolajak, Douglas (Vera) Tveten, Walter (Theresa) Tveten, Frances (John) Howe, Gordon (Barbara) Tveten, Dean (Shirley; Helen) Tveten, and Elaine (Robert) Reynolds; and other relatives.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Charles, in Blossomberg Cemetery in Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek with a private committal for family.
