Joanne C. Wehling, 94, of Liberty Grove, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2022 at the Pete and Jelaine Horton Skilled Nursing and Hospice Care Facility in Sturgeon Bay after a lengthy illness. She was born in Peninsula State Park on October 13, 1927, the daughter of the late John and Ethel Kodanko.
After she graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1945, Joanne worked in Milwaukee then eventually in Denver CO. where she met her future husband, Harry Wehling. Harry and Joanne worked and started their family in the Denver area before moving back to Door County with their two children permanently in 1965. Harry and Joanne were blessed with over 60 years of marriage, together they enjoyed traveling, gardening, golf and most of all spending time with family and friends. Joanne was of strong faith and a longtime member of Stella Maris Parish Catholic Church in Sister Bay. Heartfelt thanks to all of Joanne’s nieces, nephews, extended family and “card group” friends who brought much joy and happiness into Joanne’s life since Harry passed away in 2013.
