John “Jack” Patrick Redell, 80, of Sister Bay, WI, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay, WI.
He was born on February 27, 1941 to John and Bernice Redell in Chicago, IL. Jack went to St. Benedict Catholic School and then went on to Chicago’s Lane Technical High School. He then attended the University of Illinois for two years.
Jack began his career as an engineer surveyor in the construction business in Chicago. He worked on many of the tall buildings in the Chicago area and later worked on railroad construction in Kansas City and in Texas.
He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County in Ephraim, WI. Jack was also part of Dickenson Poetry group where he enjoyed writing poetry. Besides traveling the world for enjoyment, he also loved gardening, music, and photography. He also had a gift of taking in senior animals and caring for them. Jack enjoyed spending time with friends over a meal and conversation.
Jack will be deeply missed by his partner, Toby Mason; sons, Greg Graves of Chicago, IL and Douglas Graves of North Hollywood, CA; and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
