June J. Koehler, 96 years of Sister Bay passed away Friday July 21, 2023, at Scandia Village Good Samaritan in Sister Bay where she had resided the past few years.
She was born June 3, 1927, in Liberty Grove, WI the daughter of the late Louis and Grace (Nelson) Koessl. June graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1945. For many years June had worked for various motels, housekeeping at Hub’s Motel and Pier, Gordon Lodge, Hotel DuNord, and Maxwelton Braes before heading south to work in Sturgeon Bay for Doerr Electric over 20 years, retiring in 1996. Well, not really retiring as she and her husband enjoyed being outdoors working cutting grass and servicing snow removal accounts well into their retirement years.
On October 4, 1947, she married Kenneth Dahlstrom. She was married to Emery Koehler on July 27, 1977, in Sturgeon Bay. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2021.
June was a member of Sister Bay Moravian Church where she was active in the Women’s Fellowship, taught Sunday school, played the organ and sang in the choir.
She enjoyed solving puzzles and working word searches, crocheting, and gardening.
The surviving family includes her daughter, Deb (Steve) Mann of Sister Bay; two grandchildren, David (Kelly) Mann of Martinez, CA, and Michael (Shannon) Mann of Appleton; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Emery; son, Kenneth “Lee” (Sharon) Dahlstrom; and sister, Elaine (Walter) Kalms.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Friday, August 11, 2023, at Sister Bay Moravian Church with Rev. Kerry Krauss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church August 11, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be directed to Sister Bay Moravian Church in June’s memory.
