Obituary

Lois Ann Reichenbach Krueger, 71, of Washington Island, was called home to Jesus on Friday, August 19, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born December 15, 1950 in Lombard, IL to Walter “Max” Reichenbach and Elaine Marian (Knudsen) Reichenbach. Lois grew up in Lombard, IL and graduated from Willowbrook High School in Villa Park with the class of 1968. While in Lombard, she met the love of her life Willard “Kap” George Krueger, Jr. They were united in marriage on December 21, 1968 in Illinois. Lois and Will lived in Lombard for seven years.

In 1978, Lois and Will and their four children, moved to Washington Island in Door County, WI to purchase the marina which became known as Kap’s Marina. Their family legacy with Kap’s Marina and Ship’s Wheel Restaurant was the culmination of over 40 years of hard work, dedication and love.

Lois and Will shared an "untouchable love" and were blessed with over 53 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2022.

Lois believed in living life to its fullest and treating people the way you want to be treated. She loved God, her family, life, and always looked at the good in all things and not the bad, often saying, “Turn that frown upside down,” and “Treat people how you would want to be treated.” She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.

“Many people have a piece of our mom with them with the many cookbooks she wrote over the years. We hope her love for cooking, baking, and family will live on forever through happy moments when families make these special recipes.”

Lois’ love will live on in the hearts of her family whom she will be deeply missed by: seven children, Kevin (Barb) Krueger of Washington Island, Kelly Krueger of Highland Park, IL, Kurt Kurt (fiancée, Lora Jorgensen) Krueger of Forestville, Kraig (Zuzka) Krueger of Washington Island, Knute (Jeni) Krueger of the Town of Sevastopol, Katie (Tyler) McGrane of Washington Island , and Keenan Krueger,  of Washington Island; 22 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and one on the way; one granddog, Bo; other relatives; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Walter "Wally" Reichenbach; and other relatives.
