Martin "Marty" Roy Geier, age 82, of Ephraim, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, December 6, 2025, at Serenity Spring Senior Living at Scandia Village in Sister Bay, Wisconsin.
He was the beloved husband of Valerie Kathleen (Voight) Geier for over 60 years. Together, they built a life rooted in their love for each other and their family.
Marty was a proud and devoted father to his three children: Andrew (Shannon) Geier of Wilmette, Illinois, Jonathan (Katherine) Geier of Mount Prospect, Illinois, and Elizabeth (Carlo) Prato of New York, New York. He was the proud grandfather to his six grandchildren: Emily Geier, Elliot Geier, Oliver Geier, Adrienne Geier, Samuel Geier, and Beatrice Prato. Marty loved his faithful dog, Barney.
Marty was born on December 29, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Roy Herman Geier and Dorothy Helen (Manske) Geier. He was raised Catholic and attended St. Tarcissus Church and School. Marty graduated from Notre Dame High School in Niles, Illinois, with the Class of 1960. He began his college education at Loyola University on a pre-veterinary track before transferring to the Walton School of Commerce in Chicago, where he earned his degree in 1964.
On April 24, 1965, Marty married Valerie at her home parish, St. Timothy Church in Chicago. Together they raised their three children in Glenview, Illinois. Marty's faith was an important part of his life. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help where his children attended elementary school. Later, he and Valerie regularly attended Mass at Stella Maris Parish at the Sister Bay site.
Marty was a Certified Public Accountant who began his career in public accounting in Chicago. He later served as Controller for a number of construction companies, a role he held until his retirement at age 72. Following retirement, Marty and Valerie moved to Ephraim, Wisconsin, where they embraced the quieter pace of life.
As a young man, Marty enjoyed mountain climbing. When his children were growing up, he was actively involved as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout troop leader. He found joy in spending time with Valerie, tending their garden, and watching the many birds and animals that visited their backyard. Marty was especially at peace when fishing and treasured the opportunity to take a fishing expedition to Canada and Alaska. Above all, he was happiest when surrounded by his family.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, unwavering support of his family, and his love of telling-and appreciating-a good joke. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Marty touched the lives of all who knew him. His love, guidance, and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna (George) Mohrlein; sister-in-law, Adrienne Voight Sherwin; and other relatives.
Marty's life will be honored with a Mass of Christian Burial prayed at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Stella Maris Parish-Sister Bay site, 2410 S. Bay Shore Drive, Sister Bay, WI 54234 with Fr. Thomas Farrell as celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:15 a.m. until the time of Mass.
