Myrtle Fitzgerald Obituary

Myrtle May Fitzgerald, 93, passed away peacefully at Scandia Village Care Center in Sister Bay, WI, on September 18, 2018.

Myrtle will be remembered as a woman with a spark in her eye and a spring in her step. She had a sense of adventure and sense of humor that stayed with her until her final days. She had a faith that was steady and pure and she lived each day serving God and the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was an example of a life well lived and she will be missed by all that knew her.

Myrtle was born on September 6, 1925 in Niagara, Wisconsin. She was raised in Ellison Bay, WI and graduated from Gibraltar High School. She went on to complete her degrees at Algoma Normal School, E.M.C. and Washington Missionary College. She continued her education at Andrews University where she obtained her Masters of Education in 1967. She taught school for 10 years in Wisconsin before traveling overseas as a single woman to become a missionary in Thailand. For 30 years she dedicated her life to spreading God’s word in Thailand and Singapore. She spoke highly of those years where she made memories and friendships that would last throughout her lifetime. She returned to Ellison Bay in 1988 to be with her family and has continued to live in Door County until her death.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her mother and father Almyra and George Fitzgerald, siblings David, Grace, Jeanette and John.

She is lovingly remembered by her family. Sister-in-law Phyllis Fitzgerald, Nieces and Nephews: Kathy Goethe, Kari Brandt and children, Jane and Dick Burress their children and grandchildren, Julie and Bob Eitel, Connie Fitzgerald and children, Carol and Christian Ash and children, Jackie, Jude and James Colosimo, Fawn and John Fitzgerald and children, Grace and Giovanni Fitzgerald and her special honorary daughter Shirley Doo.

We thank all of the people of Scandia Village Care Center that took care of her and loved her in her final days.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Lightbearers Gospel Ministry. Lightbearers is a non-profit organization and a supporting ministry of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
