Paul "Arnie" Stewart Obituary

Paul Arnold “Arnie” Stewart, age 90, passed away on September 5, 2022 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin after a short illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Zion, Illinois born on April 29, 1932. In 1957, Arnie married Shirley Pauline Brewer, and together they had three children, Dale, Andrea, and Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Alexander Stewart, 1900-1990, and Gyneth Short Stewart, 1899-1985, and his sister, Beverley Stewart Kiggins.

Arnie attended Zion Benton Township High School, class of 1950, and he also attended night classes along with his future wife at Moody Bible Institute. Upon high school graduation, Arnie served in the Naval Air Reserves at Glenview, IL for 8 years during the Korean conflict. He worked for the Zion Industries for a short time, and then was hired at Midway Heating and Supply Co in Zion, IL as a heating and air conditioning purchaser, working for over 50 years for Grant Sisson, longtime friend and mentor.

Arnie was an active member of Christ Community Church of Zion, Illinois, where he was involved in the Zion Passion play, youth activities, an usher, and Camp Zion staff member. He lovingly served at Camp Zion in several different capacities. He and Shirley spent their summers in Ellison Bay, WI for the last 30 years, where they attended Bethel Baptist Church. They enjoyed many friends in both communities.

Arnie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley; his three children and their spouses, Dale L. Stewart (Carol Finger) of Ellison Bay, WI, Andrea L. Stephens (Kendell Stephens) of Nappanee, IN, Paul B. Stewart (Ruth Lawton) of Lakeland, FL; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Irving Kent Stewart. Arnie lived a full, long life and spent it serving other people and honoring the Lord.
