Phyllis Ann Johnson, 83, from Shelby Township, MI and Sister Bay, WI passed away on July 19, 2025, surrounded by family and close friends at Serenity Spring Senior Living at Scandia Village in Sister Bay, WI. She was born February 4, 1942 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Thomas and Lucy (Caroll) Gill.
She attended St Stephen High School in Port Huron Michigan, and graduated in 1960. She attended Providence Hospital Nursing School where she found her calling and went on to a life long career in many capacities as a nurse serving in ERs, and as a nurse in the automotive manufacturing plants. While in nursing school she befriended Diana and Alita who would become special lifelong friends and wonderful travel companions, sharing all life events and milestones.
Phyllis was a passionate traveler, visiting many countries and state vistas within the United States. A favorite story was always her trip to the Redwoods in a VW with girlfriends. Ireland always having her heart and ancestry, she travelled there several times, walking back through her history with family and friends.
She was also passionate about healthy living, thriving within her organic lifestyle. She also loved sharing this passion with others, often mailing and later emailing articles she believed would interest and benefit others. She could often be found biking trails through local parks and later in life taking many walks throughout Michigan and Wisconsin.
Phyllis will be missed by son, Patrick (Gretchen) Johnson of Sister Bay, (and grandchildren, Summer Johnson, Chicago, IL, Brandt Bauldry, stationed in Honolulu, HI, Mason Bauldry, Seattle, WA); daughter Sheryl (Tom) Eckert, (and grandchildren, Brett Hadwin, Scott Hadwin, Garrett Hadwin, John Eckert, Giuseppe Eckert and Bianca Eckert, and great-grandchildren Carter, Sophia, Harper, and Colton Hadwin, all of Michigan); and also many beloved nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Gill and Lucy Carroll and beloved sisters, Carol Treklis and Thelma Hodges.
