Shari Jane Rosenquist

     Shari Jane Rosenquist, 59, of the Town of Liberty Grove, passed away late Friday night, July 28, 2023 at the Unity Hospice Jack and Engrid Meng Residence in the Town of Ledgeview after a brief stay.

     She was born July 1, 1964 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Jack Fritiof Rosenquist and Shirley Mae (Harrer) Rosenquist. Shari grew up attending Living Christ Lutheran Church in Buffalo Grove, IL. She graduated from Buffalo Grove High School with the class of 1982. Shari studied at Harper College in Palatine, IL before going on to study at the Culinary Institute of Chicago for several years. 

     Before moving to Door County in 2012, Shari was employed at several places in the Chicago northwest suburbs including Allstate, Discover Card, ABC Animal Control, ADP, and as a Mail Carrier for the USPS in Arlington Heights. She was a long-time docent at the 1850's Volkening Heritage Farm within the Spring Valley Nature Center in Schaumburg, IL.

     Upon her move to Door County, Shari worked at various places including Jerry's Flowers, Pheasant Park Resort, and Corner of the Past Museum, and as an activities coordinator at Scandia Village, all in Sister Bay, Simply Scandinavian Gift Shop in Gills Rock, Savory Spoon, Brew Coffee House, and most recently, the Hillside Inn in Ellison Bay. Shei was most known for her time at Brew where, as a barista, many of her regular customers had their own special blend, and as a cook and baker, she was always experimenting with non-traditional Door County flavors and cuisines. Shari's passion was sharing joy through her food, literally and figuratively “preparing a table” for others.

     Anyone who knew her knew she was an avid animal lover. Shari thought of her two cats (and one remaining ferret) as her own children. Her recently deceased dog, Sparky, was her constant companion throughout the peninsula.

     Shari was a lifelong learner, especially on historical topics. She loved gardening, decorating, music, and old movies.

     Shari attended Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay where her family went, and despite the various places and directions she was pulled in life, Shepherd of the Bay was "home base".   

     Her love will live on in the hearts of her brother, Jerry (Cindy Ogilvie) Rosenquist of Town of Sevastopol; nephews and niece, Kevin (Heather Eckert) Rosenquist, Wendy Rosenquist, and William "Will" Ogilvie; and friends. 

     Shari was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dean Rosenquist; and other relatives.   

     Her life will be honored with a memorial service held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay with Pastor Jim Honig officiating. Shari will be laid to rest near family in Rowleys Bay Cemetery with a private committal.

     Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.

     Memorials may be given in her name to a charity of your choice, especially those involving animal care and rescue, women and children's relief, and environmental care and preservation.
