Stanley Ore Obituary

Stanley H. Ore, 82, of Fish Creek, WI and Holmes Beach, FL passed away on Tuesday, September 17 at Good Samaritan Scandia Village in Sister Bay, WI. He was born November 1, 1935 in Madison, WI to Stan and Marian (Powell) Ore. Stan entered the US Navy immediately after graduating from high school in Edgerton, WI and served as a reservist in the US Coast Guard after his discharge from the Navy. Stan earned a Bachelor's degree from UW Whitewater. He completed a Master's degree and a Specialist degree (Ed.S.) from UW Madison. After working as a teacher in Burlington, Stan came to Appleton as an assistant principal at Appleton High School. He later became the first principal at Appleton High School-East where he worked until 1993. Stan's second marriage to Carol Hoffman occurred on December 28, 1988.

Stan and Carol traveled widely and they worked at schools in Izmir, Turkey and Minsk, Belarus. They also lived in Kuwait, Brindisi, Italy and Yerevan, Armenia. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Thomas and his grandson John Ore.

Stan is survived by his wife, Carol, his children: Pam Ore, Steve Ore, Julie Mowrey and Jerry Ore and his stepdaughters: Laura Young and Melissa Masters; his grandchildren: Rebecca Ore Cooper, Robert Ore, Brian Ore, Alexandra Mowrey, Thomas Mowrey, Andrew Ore, and Maranda Ore; and his step grandchildren: Theodore Young, Jamison Young, Madeline Masters, Emma Masters and Benjamin Masters; and great-grandchildren: Madeline Cooper, Thomas Cooper, Dawson Ore, Farah Ore, and Josie Ore.

Stan's life will be celebrated with stories and jokes at Stone Harbor Restaurant and Pub, 107 N. 1st Ave. in Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 on Saturday, September 22 at 12:00 noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Stan's favorite charity: the Salvation Army.

The family extends it's heartfelt thanks to the staff at Door County Memorial Hospital, Town of Gibraltar Emergency Medical Services, Good Samaritan Society-Scandia Village and Unity Hospice from whom Stan received the best possible care.
