Obituary

Thomas Michael Rowinski III, 66, of Gills Rock, formerly of Eagle, passed away late Sunday afternoon, February 6, 2022, at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay with his family by his side.

He was born December 19, 1955, in Milwaukee, son of Thomas Michael Rowinski, Jr. and Marcia Jane (Dublinski) Rowinski. Tom grew up attending public and private schools in Greenfield. He attended Greenfield High School and was a member of the swim team. Tom graduated in 1974.

He began his career in 1983 for Carnation Company working out of Oconomowoc, WI. After a brief transfer to Waukegan, IL, Tom returned to Oconomowoc for the remainder of his tenure. After 37 years with Carnation Company, now known as Silgan Container Corp., he retired in management in May of 2020.

Tom married his first wife, Kim Jean Pawelski, in 1976 in Milwaukee. They shared Tom’s first child, Thomas Michael Rowinski IV. Tom and Kim shared seven years of marriage together. He, then, united in marriage with his soulmate, Bobbi Ellyn Miller, on October 1, 1983, at St. John Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. They were blessed with 38 wonderful loving years of marriage and shared two children together, Kristoffer and Steffanie Rowinski. After retirement, Tom and Bobbi retreated to their current home in Gills Rock, fulfilling their dream of living in Door County.

Tom had an appreciation for machines, engines, and enjoyed almost anything that involved going fast: snowmobiling, motorcycling on his Harley, boating, and driving his ‘Vette. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and his two grandsons. Tom became passionate about birdwatching and their plants, both inside and outside. He loved his animals – three donkeys, four dogs, and a cat.

Tom will be missed by his wife, Bobbi, children, Thomas (Katie) Rowinski IV of Menomonee Falls, Kris (Amber) Rowinski of Oconomowoc, and Steffanie Rowinski of Mukwonago; grandchildren, Maxton and Hawken Rowinski; his parents, Thomas Rowinski, Jr. of Muskego and Marcia Rowinski of Wind Lake; four siblings, Sue (Dave) Uttke of West Allis, Brian (Marcia) Rowinski of Johnson Creek, Scott (Christine) Rowinski of New Berlin, and Neal (Lisa) Rowinski of Dousman; siblings-in-law; other relatives; coworkers; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Kim.

Tom’s life will be honored by family at a later date in southern Wisconsin – to be announced.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Wisconsin Humane Society - Door County campus (3475 Park Drive, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235).

“Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Door County Medical Center, especially the ICU staff and the security personnel. The care you gave to Tom and also for the compassion you showed to us was very much appreciated.”
