Wendell “Lars” Larsen died on May 10, 2023, at the age of 93 at his home in Fish Creek, Wisconsin. For the past several years, he fought serious medical issues following a stroke. He was surrounded by family in the days leading to his death, with grandson, David, at his side during his final hours.
Lars was a faithful churchgoer and long-time member of Shepard of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin, serving in several leadership positions. In his work career, he was a farmer, speech writer and public relations executive. In his spare time, he enjoyed tennis, woodworking, classical music (especially organ music) and flying his own airplane. In his later years, Lars enjoyed the company of family and friends around the fire, built according to his exact specifications, at his Fish Creek home.
Lars met his future wife Judy while they attended college together in Iowa. They were married for 65 years and raised six children, Chris (Karen), David (Celia), Jeanette, Carol (Bryan), Peter and Matthew (Maren). Lars is survived by his wife, Judy; five of his children; and six grandchildren, Cena (Christian), Peter, Will, David, Christian and Mattie.
Lars’s life will be honored at a memorial service in the fall.
