William M. Brungraber, 88, Jacksonport, passed peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025, with his wife by his side, at Serenity Springs at Scandia Village, Sister Bay.
He was born on May 25, 1937, the son of William and Marie (Smejkel) Brungraber. William graduated from Sevastopol High School and attended St. Norbert College in Green Bay. He married Joanne Alice Franke, his wife of 64 years, in Egg Harbor, on December 26, 1960. They lived on Clark’s Lake throughout their marriage and remained members of St. Michael’s (Stella Maris) Catholic Church in Jacksonport. William and Joanne had one daughter, Renee.
William was a contractor, working alongside his father at Brungraber Builders, until he would take over the business from his father. He served in the Army Reserves from 1960 to 1962. William was the youngest fourth-degree member of Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughter, Renee (Marty) Lewis; granddaughters, Lara (Bryan) Drown and Angie (Mike) Frank; great-granddaughters, Ravyn and Camille Drown; one sister-in-law, Emilie Franke; and nephews, Randy and Mike (Karen) Franke.
William was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Toby Franke.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30am to 10:45am at the church on Friday, July 18, 2025.
A Mass of Christian Burial honoring William’s life will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Stella Maris Catholic Church, Jacksonport site, 6236 Hwy 57, Sturgeon Bay, with Father Anthony Birdsall celebrating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30am to 10:45am at the church on Friday, July 18, 2025.
Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan St, Sturgeon Bay, following the service. William will be laid to rest in Blossomberg Cemetery during a private family ceremony in the Town of Gibraltar.
